Unit 5 What were you doing when the rainstorm came?
It’s my great pleasure to present my lesson plan here. The lesson I’’ll interpret my lesson plan from the following aspects:
Firstly, I’d like to analyze the teaching material.
This lesson is chosen from the section A of unit 3, Book 1, SEP Edition.Then I will illustrate the Analysis of the Students even though ss have learned the simple past tense,they may still feel hard to talk about past events by using the past progressive tense. Thus,enough practice will be organized to help ss learn the new words, expressions and sentence structures.
Next part is learning objectives:
1. Knowledge objectives. After the class, ss will understand the function of the past progressive tense and the basic meaning of new vocabulary and the sentence structures, such as have fun,report,die down,in a mess,making sure ,What were you doing when the rainstorm came?
2. Ability objectives. By the end of the lesson, ss will be better able to talk past events by using what they learned.
3. Emotional objectives. During the class, ss’ interest in learning English will be aroused by talking about past events.
Next, let’s move on to the key point and difficult point.
The key point is to talk past events using the past progressive tense, such as what were you doing at the time of rainstorm?
The difficult point is to understand the adverbial clause of time guided by when.
To achieve the objectives above, I’ll adopt TBLT. And ss will learn through cooperation, communication, discussion.
Now, I’d like to describe the teaching procedure.
Step 1 is leading in.
At the beginning of the class, I’ll Play a video about storm to arouse increase student's interest of storm,then i will come up a question“When we know the rainstorm is coming, what should we prepare?”
Step 2 is Pre-reading.
I will Guide students to answer the question and introduce some words to them by showing some pictures. So, next step is while-reading.
In fast reading part,I will let students read the passage quickly and answer two questions about the passage. In Careful reading part, students will read again and find more specific information, then I will guide students finish the structure of passage.
Step 4 is post-reading.
In this part Students will discuss an extracurricular question with a partner. Some groups will be chosen to give a show.
Next part is homework
As for the homework, students will be asked to write a composition(50-80) about the unforgettable events between you and your best friend in the past.
