ABSTRACT
Westudythee ectsofanintegrableimpurityinaperiodict-Jchain.Theimpuritycouplestobothspinandchargedegreesoffreedomandhastheinterestingfeaturethattheinteractionwiththebulkcanbevariedcontinuouslywithoutlosingintegrability.We rstconsidergroundstatepropertiesclosetohalf- llinginthepresenceofasmallbulkmagnetic eld.Wecalculatetheimpuritycontributionstothe(zerotemperature)susceptibilitiesandthelowtemperaturespeci cheatanddeterminethehigh-temperaturecharacteristicsoftheimpurity.Wetheninvestigatetransportpropertiesbycomputingthespinandchargesti nessesatzerotemperature.Finallytheimpurityphase–shiftsarecalculatedandtheexistenceofanimpurityboundstateintheholonsectorisestablished.
