3.Results
ThecolormagnitudediagramofNGC6822showsasigni cantpopulationofcandidatevariablestarsofdi erenttypesthatpopulatealltheregionswherethetheoreticalmodelspredicttheirpresence(Baldaccietal.2002).OnlythevariableswithV≥23(namelyvariablesintheHorizontalBranchregionoftheclassicalinstabilitystrip)havebeenfullyanalysedsofar.Amongthemwefound17RRLyraestars(15ab-typeand2c-type)and20brightershort-periodvariablesthatwecollectivelyindicateaslowluminosity(LL)Cepheids(Clementinietal.2003).Alltheseobjectshavegoodphotometricdataandlightcurvecoveragethatallowanunambiguousdeterminationoftheperiod.SincetheHorizontalBranchofNGC6822incompletelyhiddenbytheyoungandintermediate-agestarpopulations,ourdetectionofRRLyraestarsisthe
