A tropical rainforest is a biome type that occurs roughly within the latitudes 28 degrees north or south of the equator. This ecosystem experiences high average temperatures and a significant amount of rainfall. Rainforests can be found in Asia, Australia, Africa, South America,and Central America, the U.S. states of Florida and Hawaii, as well as Mexico and on many of the Pacific, Caribbean, and Indian Ocean islands.
热带雨林是一个生物群落类型，大约发生在纬度28度赤道以北或南。这个生态系统经历了高温度和降雨量。在亚洲、澳大利亚、非洲、南美国和夏威夷中部，美国佛罗里达州和美国州，以及墨西哥和太平洋、加勒比海和印度洋岛屿的热带雨林都可以发现。
Tropical rainforests can be characterized in two words: hot and wet. Mean monthly temperatures exceed 18 °C (64 °F) during all months of the year.[4] Average annual rainfall is no less than 168 cm (66 in) and can exceed 1,000 cm (390 in) although it typically lies between 175 cm (69 in) and 200 cm (79 in).[5] This high level of precipitation often results in poor soils due to leaching of soluble nutrients.
