Inrecentyears,multimediaandnetworkhavebeenwidelyappliedtotheteachingoflisteningandspeakingonnon-English-majoredcollegestudents.Inthisarticle,thecurrentsituationoftheteachingoflisteningandspeakinginChineseuniversitieswasanalyzed,then,theadvantagesofmultimediaandnetworkwereillustrated.Basedontheproblemsthatwerefound,somestrategieswereputforwardtomaketheteachingmoreeffective.IndexTerms:Multimediaandnetwork;listeningandspeaking;non-English-majoredcollegestudents

1.INTRODUCTION

TheCollegeEnglishCurriculumRequirements,modifiedbytheMinistryofEducationin2007,illustratesthat:“TheobjectiveofCollegeEnglishistocultivatestudents’abilitiesofcomprehensiveapplicationsofEnglish,especiallylisteningandspeakingabilities,sothattheycancommunicateeffectivelybothinoralandwrittenEnglishintheirstudyandsocialinteractioninthefuture.”[1]Italsoputsforwardthatthemulti-mediaandnetworktechnologyshouldbeappliedtoimprovethequalityofteachinginlisteningandspeaking,tostimulatestudents’learnautonomyandformtheirpersonalities.

EnglishlisteningandspeakingabilitiesaretheprioritiesofcollegeEnglishteaching,andmoreandmoreEnglishteachersbegintoapplymultimediaandnetworktoassisttheirteaching.However,inlisteningandspeakingclasses,listeningismorefocusedandspeakingisplacedinthesecondplace;andinmanycollegesanduniversities,multimediaandnetworkareonlyusedasthemethods,notthewaytoprovideanenvironmenttostimulatestudents’learnerautonomy.

ThearticleistofirstanalyzethecurrentsituationoftheteachingoflisteningandspeakingincollegeEnglish,thengivesthetheoreticalbasisandadvantagesofthetwoapproaches,soastoputforwardsomestrategiessosolvetheproblemsandimprovethequalityofcollegeEnglishteaching.
