Abstract.Wehavedevelopedanewevolutionarysyn-thesiscode,whichincorporatestheoutputfromchemicalevolutionmodels.Wecompareresultsofthisnewcodewithotherpublishedcodes,andweapplyittotheirregu-largalaxyNGC1560usingsophisticatedchemicalevolu-tionmodels.Thecodemakesimportantcontributionsintwoareas:a)thebuildingofsyntheticpopulationswithtime-dependentstarformationratesandstellarpopula-tionsofdi erentmetallicities;b)theextensionofthesetofstellartracksfromtheGenevagroupbyaddingtheAGBphasesformi/M⊙≥0.8aswellastheverylowmassstars.Ourcodepredictsspectra,broadbandcolors,andLickindicesbyusingaspectralibrary,whichcoveramorecompletegridofstellarparameters.Theapplica-tionofthecodewiththechemicalmodelstothegalaxyNGC1560constrainthestarformationageforitsstellarpopulationaround10.0Gy.
