Purpose

To define the method used to inspect and test hand held mains powered drills, with additional features, hammer action for example, to ensure consistent manufacture and thus assure Hilka Tools (UK) of the inherent safety and reliability of these items.

Scope

Drills, mains powered (Hand Held) capable of accepting a variety of drills for different materials. The unit may have hammer action. These units will be powered via a 13Amp plug directly from a UK mains source.

Procedure

Select the sample for inspection as defined in the sample plan and general inspection procedure (form : 003 and HCD : 002)

Select a unit, unpack and record the serial number and/or date code onto the Inspection report continuation sheet (form: 002)

Visual Inspection Procedure

General condition, rust marks, scratches etc

Obvious damage to unit or accessories

Colour in accordance with reference sample

Condition of fixings

Obvious missing features, vents etc.

Sharp edges and burrs.

Condition of the plug and cable.

Condition and alignment of labels and pad printing.

Durability of labels and pad printing to rubbing with damp (water) cloth. Piece parts misaligned resulting in gaps and raised edges.

Accessories included are correct and in good condition.

Sprit level functions, if fitted.
